Mimosa rupertiana
Sensitive Briar
Sandy, gravelly soils support this dryland sensitive plant whose leaves fold up when touched! Sensitive Briar has prickly long stems forming a 1 1/2 ft. mound 5 ft. across. The flowers are pink pompoms with yellow tips that develop long fingered seed pods. Fragrance of an old fashioned rose. Soak in water 8 hours before sowing or sow outside in spring. Zones 5-8.
